JORDAN Brand has lifted the lid off Michael Jordan’s 35th signature shoe, revealing five colorways — including two that are directly inspired by the Jordan 5s, which are celebrating their 30th anniversary.
For the 35s, designer Tate Kuerbis decided to make the design revolve around the ‘Eclipse Plate 2.0’. First seen in the 34s, the Eclipse Plate technology creates a hollow in the center of the sole. It's now the centerpiece of this new design, with a gradient field surrounding the hollow and the Flightwire support on the uppers seemingly radiating out from that great big midsole hole.
Meanwhile, Zoom Air tech provides cushioning on the heel.
In a statement, the Celtics’ Jayson Tatum said, “The XXXV is comfortable, supportive and lightweight, to the point that I don’t even feel like I’m wearing it.”
He added: “I was shocked that Jordan could take the Eclipse Plate in the XXXIV and upgrade it in the XXXV.”
Five colorways were revealed today.
Center of Gravity
Like we said, the Center of Gravity was directly inspired by the Jordan 5s. It will release on September 27 (this Monday already!) in China and October 17 globally.
Warrior
With a kanji-inspired logo, this colorway pays homage to the Japanese roots of Washington Wizards forward Rui Hachimura. Drops October 21.
Bayou Boys
This one was designed specifically for Zion Williamson. It will arrive November 30.
Morpho
Jordan Brand designed this one for Guo Ailun, who plays for the Liaoning Flying Leopards in the Chinese Basketball Association, as well as the Chinese Basketball Association. The ‘Morpho’ will drop on December 24.
DNA
This one wasn’t designed for any specific athlete, but is another Air Jordan V homage. It will drop on November 11.
No price details were revealed by Nike.
