REVEALED just a little more than a week ago, the Nike collab with Philippine sneaker store Titan gets its oncourt debut as LeBron James laces them up against the Raptors.
Check them out in action:
Aside from its fiery “university red” colorway and gold accents that you can spot from the bleachers, the LeBron 17 Low ‘Titan’ also has a ton of intricate design elements inspired by the twin journeys of both James and Manila’s sneakerhead haven.
On the tongue crest, for example, you can find “Para sa Kadakilaan” — a translation of LeBron’s slogan “Strive for Greatness.” A Titan lightning bolt and a King James crown also complete the crest.
There’s also a burning barbers’ chair graphic embossed right below the gold Nike swoosh.
At first glance, it seems like a simple nod to the Titan barbershop right next to its flagship sneaker store in Bonifacio Global City.
Turns out that this is a thing that actually happened.
As Levon Rondina, chief creative officer (and the brand’s first store manager), revealed in an Instagram post from Slam Online Philippines, one of their vintage barber chairs actually overheated and went up in flames during the brand’s very early days.
“It was a sad sight but we went in after the smoke cleared to clean the whole space,” recalled Rondina.
The LeBron XVII ‘Low’ Titan is currently on sale in — where else? — Titan for P8,095.
