KIM Atienza is optimistic that he and fellow Filipino cyclists can breeze past the competition in the Prudential RideLondon 2019, which kicks off on August 3 and 4.

He points out that proper preparation and the fine weather during the race will spell the difference for him, Zoren Legaspi, and Gretchen Ho.

Participating in the 100-mile challenge, Kuya Kim is bracing for the London heat, which is expected to hit 40° Celcius during race day. But the veteran weather presenter sounds like he's already figured out how to deliver his best despite the challenge.

So pleasant ‘yung init,” he adds. “Wala ‘yun, mamaniin namin ‘yun.

Kuya Kim believes the change in scenery will prove to be rewarding for their team. “Ang adrenaline kakaiba kapag nasa ibang lugar ka,” he says. “Iba ang epekto ng magandang tanawin, iba ang epekto ng magandang energy, iba ang epekto ng magandang company and it makes the experience so pleasurable and the pain is less obvious.”

The experienced triathlete also feels determined to toughen out the 100-mile challenge with a simple move.

“Importante is to keep hydrated,” he said. I have two bottles sa bike ko, one for my nutrition and one for plain water.”

The Team Pru Like UK is set to leave for London on August 1.

The prestigious race, which is expected to draw 100,000 participants from all over the world, is composed of a series of events for amateur cyclists and professionals.
