NEW postseason, new shoes.
So as the Golden State Warriors gear up for another expected deep NBA playoff run, Kevin Durant is set to unveil his 12th signauture sneaker with Nike next month.
His signature shoes are usually released during the US summer, bthis version will be released earlier – on April 6 ahead of the 2019 playoffs where Durant and the Warriors are gunning for a third successive NBA championship.
What’s distinct about the latest shoe of Durant, who wears a size-18 sneaker, is putting emphasis on an often-unnoticed element: the strobel, a “thin woven textile that traditionally sits beneath the sockliner and above the midsole,” providing structure, support and shape for the upper.

Athletes are usually disconnected from the shoes’ responsive cushioning, but Nike engineers stitched a full-length Nike Zoom airbag strobel to the upper to make the Air unit a more dynamic element of the shoe.
“It’s one of the unsung heroes in footwear,” Nike Basketball Footwear senior creative director Leo Chang said. “The strobel isn’t approached differently other than how it’s been done over the last few decades. And yet it’s literally what separates your foot from the cushioning.”
“The Day One” colorway is set for release at select Nike and Titan outlets, with price still to follow.
