JIO Jalalon used to play basketball in his younger years on borrowed shoes.
Now not only does he owns a number of playing sneakers, he even has his own shoe exclusively made for him by Peak.

“As a player, sobrang laking impact nito para sa akin. Dati naiisip ko nanghihiram lang ako ng sapatos, from grade school to high school,” recalled the veteran Magnolia guard of his early days playing the game in Cagayan De Oro.
“Nung college meron naman nang nabili. Pero ngayon meron ka nang ganitong sapatos.”
Jalalon is the latest endorser of the popular Chinese footwear and sportswear which opened its latest store at Festival Mall Alabang over the weekend.
He was joined by former PBA MVP and fellow Peak endorser Arwind Santos along with Peak Sports Philippines president Michael Chenglay.
Jalalon said he’s truly grateful for Peak for considering him to become one of its ambassadors.
“Actually nabigla din ako. Masarap sa pakiramdam, kasi sino ba naman si Jio Jalalon dati na nung bata pa nanghihiram lang ng sapatos,” he said. “Tapos ngayon biglang may ganitong opportunity.”
Peak Sports Philippines vice president Jonathan Chenglay said Peak was looking for a skilled and talented playmaker who is an ideal product endorser, and Jalalon came out on top of its list.
“Jio is known for his offense and defense. And very relatable kasi yung height niya, hindi naman siya ganun katangkad, so very relatable sa Philippine market kaya maraming nag-a-idolize sa kanyang mga guards,” said the younger Chenglay.
“So meron na kaming isang forward (Arwind) and isang guard (Jio).”
Jalalon said his Sonic Boom sneaker is a collab between him and Peak.
“Sila yung nag-design tapos meron lang akong pirma dito sa sole. Meron din akong initials na JJ, yun ang pinag-usapan namin,” he said.
“Kaya very thankful ako na binigyan nila ako ng ganitong opportunity.”
