EVEN Pasig City’s Mayor Vico Sotto can testify that Ginebra Nation is one loud and proud fanbase.
Through the weekend, as the young mayor conducted a community site visit, he wore the PBA team’s most recent championship shirt and even used the hashtag #NeverSayDie in his posts.
The 31-year-old of host and actor Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes sported Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s latest championship merchandise from the 2019 PBA Governor’s Cup. The shirt features shots of the whole team, including head coach Tim Cone.
Last month, in an interview with GMA’s Howie Severino, Sotto revealed his favorite sport is basketball, and his favorite team in the local professional league was Ginebra.
"Ka-barangay tayo," Sotto said. "I really enjoy the game, it's my favorite sport, my favorite hobby."
It's a declaration that caught brother-in-law Marc Pingris by surprise.
On the comment thread of the mayor's Facebook post, some netizens who were also NSD supporters posted photos of themselves wearing Vico's exact same shirt.
