THE Worm went on Instagram today to unbox some gifted kicks — signed personally by Off-White's Virgil Abloh.
Judging from Dennis Rodman’s over-the-top reaction, the gifts were unexpected, but very, very welcome.
“I’m happy as a clown right now, what the f—!” exclaimed Rodman, holding up a pair of signed Air Jordan 1 x Off-Whites in the “University Blue” colorway.
The shoes are the third collaboration between the Jordan Brand and legendary fashion designer Virgil Abloh.
Beside the “AIR” branding on the sole, Abloh personally scribbled “Worm”. He also wrote a message for Rodman on the side.
“REAL LEGENDS DESERVE REAL THINGS,” wrote Abloh in all caps on the comments section of Rodman’s post. “We as a culture owe you. It’s nothing but my pleasure.”
Rodman being Rodman, he tried on the shoes while wearing some eye-searing lime green socks.
The retired Hall of Famer also received two other signed Abloh collabs: an Off-White x Nike Air Max 97 “Serena” and the same shoe in “Black”.
The total value of the gifts, according to prices listed on reseller Stockx, would be at least $3,736 (around P184,400); Abloh’s signature would obviously increase the sticker price significantly.
This weekend, news broke that Dennis’ estranged father Philander Rodman passed away in his home in Pampanga. One of Philander’s grandchildren has reportedly reached out to Dennis via social media.
