BACK IN the ‘80s, maverick Japanese shoe designer Toshikazu Kayano — who lent his name to the iconic line of Gel-Kayano running shoes — embarked on his first project for ASICS: the Gel-Extreme basketball shoe.
Those high-cut hoops kicks broke the mold thanks to some “spirited color blocking,” as the Japanese shoe brand described it. Now, the Gel-Extremes are getting a second life. Repurposed as a low-cut pair but inspired by its pioneering spirit, the ASICS EX89 retains the vintage flair of the original for a bright, peppy pair of casual kicks.
ASICS EX89, P6,490 (Black and Gray colorways are exclusive to Foot Locker PH)

The EX89 originally debuted at Singapore’s Culture Cartel 2022. Legendary sneaker designer (and longtime ASICS collaborator) Ronnie Fieg dug up the old silhouette from the ASICS archives and brought it into the modern world.
For the general release, four colorways will be available in the Philippines. However, the gray and black variants will only be available in Foot Locker PH.
