ONE of the most iconic sneakers of all time made famous by arguably the greatest basketball player in history is days away from its anticipated major release.

Unlike the limited release in 2013 of its Retro High OG version, the Air Jordan 1 ‘Banned’ colorway makes its comeback to stores on September 3 to the delight of fans worldwide as the shoe holds an esteemed place among sneakerheads.

Back in its debut in 1985, the NBA fined Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan for every game he wore the shoe due to its non-uniform colorway, a penalty that Nike happily shouldered due to the media buzz it created. Thus the said shoe was named ‘Banned’ and became a lifestyle icon to this day.

Air Jordan 1 ‘Banned’ has a Bulls-inspired black and red palette. Purists will appreciate the original Nike Air branding on the tongue and insoles on the latest retro model.
