AS the Philippine Women's National Football Team carry the flame for the Filipinos in the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, they'd be wearing the colors of the flag.
Pula, bughaw, and puti, these are the colors of the home and away kits of the Filipinas as they make their mark in the global stage this July.
In collaboration with Adidas Philippines, the PWNFT launched its official jerseys with designs anchored on the country's culture and colors last May 16, 2023.
The kits include three colorways namely 'Alab ng Puso', 'Ang Bagong Yugto', and 'Sipag at Tiyaga', with each holding a deep meaning for the team.
Alab ng Puso featured a loud and bold red with a blue and white collar which represesents the team's bravey, passion, and pride for the country.
Meanwhile, the blue striped pair Sipag at Tiyaga has a collar in red and white. This embodies the team's grit and glory.
Lastly, Ang Bagong Yugto white kit is adorned with three blue stripes and a collar decked in white and yellow.
Having this kind of support from a global brand, Hali Long shared it was a 'full circle moment' for the team.
"It's just nice to have something specially made for us. This is special for the team. We feel like the hard work we have put in the past 10 to 15 years have paid off," PWNFT captain Hali Long said.
Manager Jeff Cheng added: "This is a special moment for the team, to have a kit launched, for the first time, just like how they do it everywhere."
The kits will launch and would be available for public consumption on June 12th, Philippine Independence Day.
Apart from the kits, adidas will also release fan merch with Filipinas' logo and new sets of football wear.
