WE'RE about a couple of weeks into 2018. So how are your resolutions holding up?
Hopefully, you’re still happily sticking to them (we’re judging you hard if you’ve fallen off the wagon already, btw). Seriously, we’re not even done with January yet!
We hope you don’t mind us adding a couple more to your list. After all, there’s no better time to start good habits than the beginning of a new year.
So here are eight grooming resolutions to follow this 2018. If you successfully follow them throughout the year, chances are bright that you’ll be welcoming 2019 as a well-groomed, better-looking specimen. You can thank us later.
1) Find your signature scent(s)
How you smell makes a huge impression when interacting with other people. A put-together man knows what fragrances work for him (and his body chemistry) and which among them are appropriate for the occasion.
2) Manage your fuzz
And we’re talking about all over here. From the hair on top of your head to the scruff on your face, to the man-fur covering your body, and even to the curls down south—do your best to keep things neat and clean. Don’t hesitate to do some trimming when necessary.
3) Pay attention to your feet
Stinky feet have doomed many a romance (and for good reason). No one wants to hang around a dude with cheesy, funky-smelling toes. Other than being generally more hygienic about your feet though, also remember to keep your toenails clipped. You can also go the extra mile and use a pumice stone or foot file to get rid of dead skin and calluses. Trust us, your girl will love you for it.
4) Spare an extra minute for conditioner
Washing your hair with shampoo isn’t enough. Sure, it’ll clean your scalp, but conditioner is necessary if you want your hair to be strong, manageable, and healthier. So don’t be lazy and reach for that extra bottle when you shower. In fact, it’s a good idea to wash yourself better in general: scrub well and use the right products.
5) Keep calm and floss
One thing many people let fall by the wayside is flossing, and that’s just not cool. If you care about your mouth, then you should embrace the floss and add it to your daily hygiene regimen.
6) Love your skin
The biggest organ of the body, your skin gets exposed to a hell of a lot of possible damage. This 2018, treat your skin better by remembering to apply SPF every day (sunny or not), moisturizing head to toe, exfoliating regularly, and not shying away from anti-aging serums or eye-creams (don't worry, no one is judging you).
7) Take care of your hands
It’s time to leave behind that outdated notion that manicures are just for women. When you’re serious about your grooming, then every extremity should be given care and attention. You’re not required to get professional mani-pedis or anything, but at least do your best to keep your nails clean and trimmed. And while you’re at it, there’s no harm rubbing on some hand cream every now and then.
8) Visit the experts on the reg
The dentist isn’t just somebody you should visit when you have a toothache. If you want to practice good oral hygiene, then you should actually get your teeth checked and cleaned at least twice a year. Similarly, strange warts or other things equally distressing shouldn’t be the only times you drop by the dermatologist’s clinic. Your friendly, neighborhood derma can also help you figure out an improved skin care and hair care routine.
