THE Philippines salvaged a silver medal in the 2026 Asia-Pacific Men’s Lacrosse Championship in Wellington, New Zealand.
It lost to world No. 4 Australia, 13-3, in the final on Sunday but nevertheless won a medal for the first time since the tournament’s inception in 2004.
The Philippines made waves in the competition, winning all three games of the group stage including a 10-9 overtime win over world No. 5 Japan.
By also topping the group, the Philippines advanced to the semifinals and clinched a spot in the 2027 World Lacrosse Championship in Japan.
Christian Tacogue was one of the goal scorers of the Philippines including the one that made it a 1-1 deadlock before Australia pulled away.
Nicholas Marsh and Jayden Basalatan also scored for the Philippines while goalie Dan Morris had a 55 percent save percentage.
