SEA Games champ Franco heads Philippine team vying for honors in Vietnam karate meet

Nino Franco tries to get the gold anew as he is expected to face practicaly the same field he bested in Myanmar.  

RAMON Antonino Franco leads the 13-man Philippine team to the Southeast Asian Karate Championship set April 12 to 18 in Vietnam.

Franco was the lone Philippine karate bet who won a gold medal in 55kg event of the Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar last December.

A Tacloban native whose family survived super typhoon ‘Yolanda’ last year, Franco will be joined by SEA Games silver medalist Mae Soriano and bronze winner Joanna Mae Ylanan.

Also part of the delegation are Ric Maanao, Mabel Gay Arevalo, Princess Sincangco, John Matthew Manantan, Bryan Fontillas, Jayson Macaalay, Mark Andrew Manantan, Karla Katrina Kim Arriba, and Mary Mikaela Mahilum, and Christian Jonathan Fontanillas.

Philippine Karatedo Federation secretary general Raymund Lee Reyes is the team manager and Ali Parvinfar and Maricar Rimando are the coaches. Rommel Raymundo is the delegation referee.
