TEAM Filipinas Wado Ryu made the country proud after capturing a bronze medal in the World Wado Karate Championship in Japan.
Narayana Rsi Das Mesina placed third in the 12 to 15 kumite featuring 63 karatekas from around the world.
“Masaya kami na nageexcel ‘yung mga Pinoy natin sa ibang bansa sa ganitong klaseng event. Ngayon lang uli nagkaroon ng medal sa Wado Ryu which is significant dahil nag-iimprove ang grupo,” said Philippine Karatedo Federation secretary general Raymund Lee Reyes.
Joco Vasquez was also given a special award for also making it to the top eight in the same division as Mesina.
Wado Ryu is one of the karate styles that is practiced around the world apart from shotokan, shorin ryu, shito ryu, goju ryu, and maybiba.
