INCHEON, Korea — Mae Soriano won a bronze medal for the Philippines when she beat Cok Istri Agung Sanistyarani of Indonesia, 11-3, on Friday in the Asian Games karatedo competitions at the Gyeyang Gymnasium.
Soriano ended her campaign in the women’s -55kg division bout with a win after being relegated to the bronze medal match following a 1-6 loss to Sabina Zakharova of Kazakhstan.
Soriano beat Ma Man Sun of Hong Kong, 4-2, in the 1/8 final and Wong Sok I of Macau, 11-3, in the quarterfinals.
Princess Dianne Sicangco lost to Jefry Krisnan Syakilla Salni Binti of Malaysia and Bui Thi Ngoc Han of Vietnam in the women’s -61kg division.
Ramon Antonino Franco only got as far as the quarterfinals after a 0-2 loss to Sun Jingchao of China in the men’s -55kg division.
Joanna Mae Ylanan bowed to Chao Jou of Chinese Taipei in the women’s -68kg 1/8 bout.
Karatedo will continue on Saturday, the final day of competitions in the Asiad.
