KZ Santiago stars as Philippines wins three gold medals in Turkey karate tournament

KZ Santiago took the gold in the individual Under-21 event kata event and bagged bronze in the -50kg kumite.  

THE Philippines won three gold, one silver, and five bronze medals in the Turkey International Karate Championship recently.

KZ Santiago took the gold in the individual Under-21 event kata event and bagged bronze in the -50kg kumite.

National head coach Ali Parvinfar also competed in the kumite masters where he claimed two gold medals in the kumite masters division one.

Mae Soriano captured the lone silver medal of Team Philippines in kumite, while Michelle Villamayor won bronze medals in the kata and kumite -68kg division.

Elvin John Vergavera, John Paul Bejar, Eugene Dagohoy, Ram Macaalay, Carmelo Patricio Jr., and Rexor Romaquin won bronze in the team male event of the tournament that featured 21 countries.
