MARGUIRITTE Cala-or and Joy Tubongbanua tabbed three gold medals each in leading Philippine Karate-do Traditional and Sports (PKTS) to the overall title in the 3rd SKP Shukokai Philippines Karate and Kobudo Championship recently at the Robinson’s Place Las Piñas.
Cala-or and Tubongbanua won the bulk of PKTS’ 15-gold haul that also saw the club capture two silvers and three bronzes to beat 17 other clubs from all over the country in the tournament sanctioned by the Philippine Karatedo Federation.
Cala-or was victorious in the girls advance kata 6-8 years old, girls intermediate kata 6-8 years old, and girls kumite 6-7 years old divisions.
Tubongbanua meanwhile, ruled the girls advance kata 9-11 years old, girls intermediate kata 9-11 years old, and girls kumite 9-11 years old classes.
PKTS also got gold medals from Jilliane Bautista in the girls novice 5-below, Ilianah Contega in the girls novice 6-8, Ilyana Marcelo in the girls kumite 12-13, and Mary Kathleen Canjeso in the girls novice kata 12-14,
Other winners include Mark Andrei Barrientos in the boys kumite 14-15, Charles Angelo Rodriguez in the boys advance kata 15-17, Cherry Angela Rodriguez in the girls intermediate kata 15-17, Melizarei Walit in the girls intermediate kata 18-above, and Christopher Deblois in the boys kumite 18-above -55kg,
