Philippines formally bows out of Asian Games as Gay Mabel Arevalo exits karatedo competitions

INCHEON, Korea — The Philippines formally bowed out of the Asian Games on Saturday as karateka Gay Mabel Arevalo exited in the first round at the Gyeyang Gymnasium.

Arevalo bowed to Sru Nita Sari Sukandel of Indonesia, 8-0, in the women's -50kg class first round bout to end Team Philippines' campaign in the Asian Games where the country finished 22nd with one gold, three silvers, and 11 bronzes.

Mae Soriano delivered a bronze medal for the Philippines on Friday in the women's 55kg class.
