UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas successfully defended the men’s and women’s judo titles in UAAP Season 75 over the weekend at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The Growling Tigers collected 51 points to dominate the mat with a 3-3-3 gold-silver-bronze medal haul and score their second consecutive championship and 10th overall.
Behind tournament MVP Al Rolan Llamas, UST dominated the final day of competitions to defeat University of the Philippines and La Salle, which both finished with 27 points to place second and third, respectively.
The Tigresses amassed 53 points to bag their third straight title, finishing 15 points clear of 12-time champions Lady Maroons.
It was the sixth women’s crown for UST, thanks to the efforts of Season 75 MVP Jewel de Castro and top rookie Sueko Kinjho.
In juniors play, the Tiger Cubs ended Ateneo’s six-year reign.
