KIYOMI Watanabe bagged a bronze medal in the Dusseldorf Grand Slam 2018 in Germany.
Watanabe, gold medalist in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games, beat Ketleyn Quadros of Brazil in the -63kg repechage to secure the bronze medal in the World Judo Tour event.
Watanabe won over Lucy Renshall of Great Britain and Maelle Di Cintio of France in Pool D in the preliminaries.
In the quarterfinals, the 21-year-old Fil-Japanese judoka lost to Gankhaich Bold of Mongolia, sending her to the repechage where she beat Prisca Awiti of Mexico and Quardo.
Last December, Watanabe, who is preparing for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, bagged bronze in the Hong Kong Asian Open 2017.
