AFTER all the drinking and binging this holiday season, a good workout should be in the works next.

And a visit to the newly-constructed Victoria Sports is a perfect way to shed off those unwanted pounds gained during the long break.

Proud of its claim as the world’s biggest indoor sports club, Victoria Sports boasts of a 50-meter indoor lap pool, six private gyms, and complete wellness facilities housed in a residential setting.

Former college star and PBA player Emmanuel ‘Boybits’ Victoria is the club’s resident sales head, but maintains he doesn’t own the facility located at the Victoria Sports Tower - a 45-storey twin-tower residential condominium along EDSA.

“It just so happened same surname lang kami,” said Victoria, the 1994 PBA Rookie of the Year with Swift.

It was a former college classmate who offered him the job. Although a little bit hesitant at the start, Victoria was nonetheless persuaded to take on the work.

“Sabi sa akin, 'Subukan mo lang,'” the longtime San Miguel back-up guard recalled. “But once I saw everything, how can I say no kung ganito ka magnificent naman talaga yung facility.”

The former King Lion of San Beda said Victoria Sports aims to be a one-stop training facility for enthusiasts and top athletes.

“Our offering is so extensive that they will have every feature they need in one building."

Now on its soft opening, the sports club offers top-notch amenities such as gym, basketball court, swimming pools, venues for fencing and gymnastics, along with a business club.

“So everyone can conduct business here while you’re working out,” added club manager Cesar Villanueva.

Likewise available are studios for mixed martial arts, gymnastics and various dance programs.

Various courts – tennis, badminton, and squash - will be up for regular practice or game time, along with a premiere basketball court. Triathletes can train indoors at the club’s 100-m track, the multiple treadmill, and spincycle equipment, and Olympic-length indoor pool.

The new sports community is a project of proud Filipino developer New San Jose Builders as it celebrates 30 years in the industry.
