CARLOS and Eldrew Yulo will leave on Tuesday for France as they resume training, this time for the 54th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The Yulo brothers are coming off a successful Asian Games where Caloy brought home two gold medals in the floor exercise and vault, and Eldrew captured a bronze in the parallel bars.
“(Tuesday) alis na po kami, training camp sa France and then World Championships po sa October 17,” said Eldrew on Monday night during the Athletes Homecoming dinner at the Century Park Hotel.

For the worlds, Carlos is the defending champion in the vault, and took bronze in Jakarta.
“I’m going to do my best to show up. Hindi naman po ako nag-eexpect ng anything sa world championship,” said Caloy, a three-time world champion. “Gusto ko lang makita ‘yung mga competitiors and paano ‘yung ikot sa world championships.”
Eldrew is making his seniors World Championship debut. He had bronze medals in the floor and high bar during the junior worlds last year in Manila.
“I’m not expecting anything na magkaroon ako ng podium finish but I want to expect the best from me. Gusto ko mabigay ang best ko. Gusto ko malinis ‘yung routine ko. Gusto ko maging safe kaming lahat ng maglalaro. Gusto ko mag-enjoy kaming lahat,” said Eldrew.
While he will go all out for a medal, Caloy noted that next year’s World Championships is the most important being a qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
“Pinaka-importante ‘yung next year ‘yung world championships kasi ‘yun po ‘yung qualification for Olympics. This time, ma-feel ko lang ‘yung rotation ng world championships, and praying na maging safe lahat ng routines and preparation papuntang Netherlands,” said Caloy.
