CARLOS Yulo had mixed feelings over his two-medal haul in the 51st FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Liverpool, which came to a close on Sunday.

Yulo said he is happy to come home with a silver in the vault and a bronze in the parallel bars, but is also dissatisfied with his overall performance in the competition where he also missed out on a possible gold when he placed seventh in the floor exercise, his favorite event

“Puro lessons nakuha ko this time,” said Yulo during a virtual press conference on Monday morning.

Mas magiging careful po ako next time. Sa practice, mas gagawin kong pulido ‘yung skills na gagawin ko,” added Yulo, who graded his performance as 75 out of 100.

The 22-year-old Yulo said there is also a lot to be happy about in taking two medals, one of which is he did it with a full field unlike last year when Yulo bagged a gold and a silver in the event without the other big names including Olympic champion Daiki Hashimoto of Japan.

In a way, it’s really great ‘yung mga na-experience ko dito sa world championships.

Yulo admitted one of the lessons he will take is on the mental side of the competition, admitting that he struggled to keep his focus after making it through to the finals of the men’s all-around.

Sobrang nakaka-drain pon siya,” said Yulo.

Yulo said he was dissatisfied that he was not able to wound up with a medal in the floor exercise. But on the bright side, Yulo was happy that he was able to execute different elements in the routine, particularly in the vault and the parallel bars.
