GYMNASTICS Association of the Philippines (GAP) president Cynthia Carrion has returned to Manila on Monday night from the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya following the death of her husband.
Carrion disclosed her husband has been suffering from cancer and his passing came just as two-time Olympic gold medalist Caloy Yulo and the rest of the gymnastics team kick off their Asiad campaign at the Nagoya City General Gymnasium.

“I’m supposed to be here all the time to support my athletes, but I couldn’t do it because my husband just died today. So I’m coming back tonight,” said Carrion from Japan.
She said winning a medal of any color by any of the Filipino gymnasts would somehow ease the pain of losing a loved one.
“My heart is with my athletes, and I wish them all the luck and I told them to win a medal for me,” Carrion added.
