EMMA Malabuyo strengthened her bid for an Olympic berth by taking the silver medal in the floor exercise competition of the 2024 FIG World Cup Series in Cairo.

Malabuyo scored 12.670 in the final to take second place behind gold medal winner Mana Okamura of Japan, who tallied 13.07. This event is the first of four competitions that serve as qualifier for the Paris Games.

The silver medal earned Malabuyo 30 points, giving her the lead in the Olympic Qualification Ranking List in the floor exercise. Okamura did not receive the maximum points as Japan has already qualified for the Olympics.

Malabuyo, who studies at the Univefsity of California-Los Angeles, must make it to the top two of the ranking list at the end of the qualifiers to compete in Paris. The country already has two gymnastics entries in the Olympics -- Carlos Yulo and Aleah Finnegan.

The next qualifiers will be held in Cottbus, Germany; Baku, Azerbaijan; and Doha, Qatar.
