The PSC said Kugimiya’s visit is to discuss the “current status of the grassroots project in partnership with the Japan government.”
Kugimiya is widely-regarded as the coach responsible for the rise of Yulo, who made history for the Philippines by winning two gold medals in the Paris Olympics.

Kugimiya and Yulo parted ways last year after the latter captured two world championships before his Paris Olympic success.
There is no word on a reunion for Kugimiya and Yulo, although the Filipino gymnast posted on his social media accounts that he is in Paris to attend the ongoing Paralympic Games.
A meet-up may happen later as GAP president Cynthia Carrion has said that there are plans for Yulo to visit Kugimiya and several institutions in Japan in November to personally thank them for their help in his success.
