    Caloy Yulo wins historic bronze at world gymnastics championship

    CALOY Yulo made history on Friday night when he captured a bronze medal in the floor exercise apparatus final of the 48th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Doha, Qatar.

    Yulo scored 14.600 to finish third in the floor exercise final behind gold medalist Artur Dalaloyan of Russia (14.900) and Kenzo Shirai of Japan (14.866), to give the Philippines its first medal in the world championships.

    Yulo finished 23th out of 24 finalists in the all-around final, a competition that combines the gymnasts' total scores in floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bars.

    But the 18-year old put himself in a position for a podium finish in the apparatus final after he placed fourth during the floor exercise event of the all-around.
