    Caloy Yulo is on top with two Chinese gymnasts close behind.

    CALOY Yulo is on pace to top the individual all-around after taking the lead halfway through the event in the 9th Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships at the Aspire Dome in Doha, Qatar.

    Yulo scored 41.833 after three apparatuses in Day One of the competition to take the lead. Yulo topped the floor exercise, where he was the world champion in 2019, with a score of 14.800 and tallied 12.933 in the pommel horse and 14.100 in the rings.

    Yulo is closely followed by China's Yin Dehang, who scored 41.800, and Yang Jinxiang with 41.700.

    The second day of the all-around is set on Thursday with all participants competing in the vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar to determine the gold medalist in the all-around.

    With the result, Yulo has also qualified for the apparatus final of the floor exercise after taking first place as well as in the rings after finishing in sixth. The Filipino gymnast placed 20th in the pommel horse.

    The 22-year-old Yulo can also advance to the finals of the vault where he was crowned as world champion in 2021.

    Yulo is fresh from a successful Southeast Asian Games campaign in Hanoi where he captured five golds and two silvers.
