Rupert Zaragosa is fancied to make it to the last four but out to stealthe show is Kristopher Arevalo. 

RUPERT Zaragosa slugs it out with reigning World Junior champion Kristopher Arevalo on Wednesday as the Philippine Match Play Championship presented by the MVP Sports Foundation resumes at Canlubang Golf’s South course.

Ladies’ action also gets going, with top-ranked Daniella Uy battling No. 8 Sophia Chabon in the quarterfinals National Golf Association of the Philippine event.

Arevalo is a dangerous customer even if he is the youngest in the field at 14 years old. He won the 13-14 division of the Callaway Juniors Worlds in San Diego a couple of months ago.

Andres Saldana, the lefty who is entertaining thoughts of turning pro in the near future, battles JP De Claro for a seat in the last four of the the PLDT Amateur Tour event, while Gen Nagai also shoots for a semifinal seat against former champion John Kier Abdon.

Gabriel Manotoc, who scored the biggest reversal thus far in the tournament by bundling out seventh seed Kim Soong-wun, 3&2 on Monday, will face No. 2 Korean Jun Tea-yang.

The first match pitting Saldana against De Claro starts at 8 p.m.

Mikhaela Fortuna takes on Seo Yon-kwon; Bernice Ilas-Olivares locks horns with Samantha Martinez and Harmie Constantino will be pitted against Felicia Medalla in other ladies’ matches in the tournament backed by Pancake House, Pacsports and Golf Depot.
