YUKA Saso overcame a tough start, playing a steady back nine for a closing 70 to finish in joint 29th in the Golf 5 Ladies Professional golf tournament on Sunday in Japan.
The Fil-Japanese golfer ended up 13 strokes off the winner this time after bagging two titles in three weeks in the Japan LPGA Tour.
Sakura Koiwai, runner-up to Saso in the Nitori Ladies Golf Tournament in Hokkaido last week, capped her solid performance at the Mizunami Country Club with a 66 for a 199 total and ¥10,800,000 (around P4.9 million).
Six strokes off at second place were Ayaka Furue, who shot a 66, and Ayaka Watanabe, who closed with a 67.
Asian Games gold medalist in 2018, Saso was one-over at the turn after three bogeys and two birdies, but picked up three strokes on the back nine.
Saso, who had earlier rounds of 71-71, was in a big group at 212, bagging ¥408,000 (around P186,000).
