Yuka Saso, three other Filipinas advance to Match Play phase of US Girls Junior Amateurs

Fil-Japanese Yuka Saso fires a 75 after an opening 71 at Ridgewood Country Club.

YUKA Saso gained the No. 7 seeding for the Match Play after the second round of stroke play in the US Girls Junior Amateur Championships on Tuesday in Paramus, New Jersey (Wednesday, Manila time).

The Fil-Japanese golfer shot a 75 at Ridgewood Country Club to add to her opening 71.

Sadie Englemann of the US fired a 72 and wound up co-medalist with South Korea’s Hye Jin Choi, who carded a 71 for a 141 total.

Three other Filipinas also advanced to the Round of 64, with Pauline del Rosario taking the No. 23 spot after rounds of 73-77.

Lois Kaye Go and Annika Cedo also march on to the Match Play phase after identical rounds of 74-79 for 153 totals.

Saso, winner of the Eagle Ridge Invitational in the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour, will take on Dana Williams of Florida.

Del Rosario and Go face off in an All-Filipina Round of 64 match.

Cedo, meanwhile, will take on Conner Beth Ball of Mississippi.

Mikhaela Fortuna, however, is out after adding an 84 to her opening 78.
