YUKA Saso could not get things going on a day of low scoring, firing a second straight 71 to stand nine strokes off the pace after the second round of the Golf 5 Ladies Professional golf tournament on Saturday.
Winner of two tournaments in three weeks in the Japan LPGA, Saso’s bid for a third title is in peril, standing at 142 after three birdies and two bogeys in the second round at Mizunami Country Club.
Sakura Koiwai, runner-up to Saso last week, added a 65 to her opening 68 to take the lead.
Mamiko Higa matched the tournament low 65 and sat two strokes off the lead at 135.
First-round leader Rumi Yoshiba slipped with a 73 after the opening 65.
