YUKA Saso fired a five-under par 67 to start her campaign in the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open on a high note at the Dumbarnie Links in Fife, Scotland.
Saso, fresh from her ninth-place finish in the Tokyo Olympics, made up for a double bogey and a bogey in the front nine with eighth birdies including five in the back nine to trail by clubhouse leader Michele Thompson of Scotland by only two shots.
The Filipina golfer finished her first round in second place as of posting time along with Anne Van Dam of Netherlands, and Jasmine Suwannapura of Thailand in this Ladies European Tour stop co-sanctioned by the LPGA Tour.
Fiery finish
Saso had back-to-back birdies on No. 10 and No. 11, and at No. 15 and No. 16 to atone for a double bogey at the par 3 sixth hole. She also finished the front nine with a bogey at the ninth.
The Fil-Japanese actually started with two birdies only to go even after the sixth-hole wobble.
