YUKA Saso has jumped to ninth in the Rolex Rankings following her historic conquest of the 76th US Women’s Open on Monday at The Olympic Club in San Francisco.
The 19-year-old Saso has moved to the top 10 from 40th, as she now has 5.52 average points in the women’s world rankings.
Saso surpassed US Women’s Open runner-up Nasa Hataoka, who moved from 13th to 10th in the latest world rankings after an average of 5.41.
Saso beat Hataoka in a playoff to give the Philippines its first major champion in golf.
The top six stayed the same with Jin Young Ko of Korea (9.38), In Bee Park of Korea (8.86), Sei Young Kim of Korea (7.88), Nelly Korda of the United States (7.36), Brooke Henderson of Canada (6.41), and Danielle Kang of the United States (5.96) ranked in that order.
Despite her collapse in the final round, Lexi Thompson of the United States (5.90) rose to seventh while Hyo-Joo Kim of Korea (5.61) dropped to eighth.
