WITH two victories in three weeks in the Japan LPGA, Fil-Japanese Yuka Saso has made it to the top 100 of the women’s world golf rankings.
Victory in the Nitori Ladies golf tournament in Hokkaido moved Saso 41 places up to No. 76 with 47.52 points in the rankings released on Monday.
LPGA players Jin Young Ko of Korea (382.43), and Danielle Kang (295.01) and Nelly Korda (255.13) of the US occupy the top three spots in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Saso, who topped the NEC Karuizawa golf tournament, was only the third player to win consecutive Japan LPGA tournaments in her teens after Ai Miyazato and Nasa Hataoka.
Miyazato became world No. 1 in 2010 and retired in 2017. Hataoka is currently No. 7 and plays on the LPGA Tour.
