Rianne Malixi made only one birdie to close with a one-over-par 73 and settle for joint fifth place at the close of the Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific Championship at the Siam Country Club’s Waterside course in Thailand on Sunday.
Twenty-four hours after setting a record nine-under-par 63, the 16-year-old went cold and took 15 holes before she made her first and only birdie.
By that time, she had already bogeyed 9 and 14.
On 13-under, Malixi finished five shots behind Chinese-Taipei winner Wu Chun-Wei who carded a 72.
Korean Lee Hysong took second place on 16-under following a 69 while Thai Sriwong Achiraya climbed to third on 15-under after a sizzling 66.
Another Thai, Rubrong Pimpisa, was in fourth spot on 14-under after a 70.
Tied with Malixi was Korean Kim Minsol who returned a 68.
Alethea Gaccion and Grace Quintanilla tied for 45th after shooting a 72 and 75, respectively.
