Rianne Malixi nailed six birdies against three bogeys to shoot a three-under-par 69 and climb to a share of 11th spot halfway through the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship at the Siam Country Club Waterside course in Thailand on Friday.
The 16-year-old failed to keep up with the leaders on a day of torrid scoring, completing 36 holes on 5-under, seven shots behind Chinese-Taipei leader Wu Chun-Wei.
Malixi made back-to-back bogeys from the fifth hole to go 1-over for the day but rallied with four birdies in the next six holes. After a bogey on 15, she responded with a birdie on the next hole.

She had a chance to go lower but she missed birdie putts inside eight feet in the last two holes.
Wu took a two-shot lead over Japanese Hinano Muguruma after sizzling for a 65.
Grace Quintanilla was the next-best Filipina on joint 24th on 2-under following a 70.
Alethea Gaccion slipped to a share of 41st on 1-over after a 74.
3 Pinays miss cut
The rest of the Filipinas failed to make the cut on 2-over.
Anya Cedo carded a 73 for 4-over, Junia Gabasa returned a 74 for 7-over, and Nicole Abelar shot a 74 for 8-over.
