Rianne Malixi stormed into contention, shooting a spectacular nine-under-par 63 in the third round of the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship at the Siam Country Club Waterside course in Pattaya, Thailand on Saturday.
Eagle off the green
Malixi highlighted her flawless round with an eagle off the green on the 10th hole aside from collecting six birdies.
On 14-under, Malixi was four shots off Chinese Taipei’s Wu Chun-Wei who carded a 66.
The 16-year-old began with a birdie and strung up three birdies from the fifth hole. After her eagle, she added two more birdies on 11, 15 and 18.
It was the best round of the tournament so far.
Quintanilla, Gaccion falter
Grace Quintanilla shot a 75 for a share of 40th on 1-over while Alethea Gaccion returned a 75 for joint 48th on 4-over.
