TONY Cembrano and Federico Marquez bagged the overall title while Meynard Ko and Roy Nudalo captured the low gross crown in the 19th Don Celso Tuason and Valley Founders Cup at the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo City.
Cembrano and Marquez pooled 186 points, while Ko and Nudalo combined for 164 in the member-guest event that drew more than 500 participants.
Marvin Caparros and King Stehmeier grabbed a share of the spotlight by topping Division 1, while Domingo Brion and Edgardo Santos ruled Division 2.
Rudy Ferraren and Jaime Santos topped Division 3, while Cecile Esguerra and Vangie Apuhin reigned supreme in the women’s category.
It was the biggest tournament played at the Valley Golf and Country Club since renovations were done at both the North and South courses.
More that P3 million in prizes were given, including a brand new Nissan Navarra pick up that was raffled off during the awarding ceremony.
“Our members, as well as guests were happy with the pristine conditions of the North and South courses,” said Valley Golf and Country Club president Abraham “Abet” Dela Cruz, who credited as well the Valley Golf board of directors and organizing committee head JV Santos for the event’s success.
“Because of this year’s success, it will be a challenge for us to, at least match it, as we gear up for the 20th year of Don Celso Tuason and Valley Founders Cup,” added Dela Cruz.
