RAYMART Tolentino shot a five-over 77 but remained four strokes clear after the third round of the Philippine Junior Amateur Championship at Sherwood Hills in Trece Martirez, Cavite.
The 16-year-old hit two birdies but suffered two double bogeys and three bogeys and was at 225.
Gen Nagai scored a tournament-best 72, hitting three birdies against the same number of bogeys to move into second place at 259.
“I’m just tired. The heat is taking a lot out of the players,” said Tolentino,.
“I still have to play my game tomorrow. Four strokes is not a safe lead by any means,” he added.
Diego San Pedro scored a 77 for third place at 260.
A member of the Cebu Country Club teams that won the PAL Interclub in 2012 and 2013, Nagai has shown steady improvement. He opened with an 80 and shot a second round 77.
Gabriel Manotoc shot a 76 for a 231 total.
Harmie Constantino, meanwhile, took control in girls’ play after firing a 73 for a 225 total.
Bianca Pangdanganan fired a 74 and was two shots behind, while Daniela Uy carded a 77 to sit three strokes off the pace in the tournament backed by Pancake House, Golf Depot and Pacsports and presented by the MVP Sports Foundation as part of the PLDT Group Amateur Tour.
