Tiger Woods won the Memorial and tied Jack Nicklaus for second-most PGA Tour victories at 73 on Sunday at Muirfield Village in Dublin Ohio.
Sam Snead holds the record with 82.
Starting the day four strokes off the lead, Woods birdied No. 2 and strung up three birdies from No. 5. He finished with a flourish, hitting birdie on three of the last four holes for a 5-under 67.
Woods’ 9-under 297 earned him his fifth Memorial title.
He finished two strokes better than Rory Sabbatini, who struggled with a 72, and Andres Romero, who charged up from sixth to joint second with a closing 67.
Overnight leader Spencer Levin imploded and finished tied for fourth with a final-round 75, joining Daniel Summerhays at 5-under 283.
Woods, the 14-time major champion, now focuses on the chase for Nickalus’ record 18 major titles when he sees action in the US Open starting on June 14.
