Thai golfer Atthaya Thitikul secured the title of the new Asia Pacific Cup champion, concluding her dominant performance with a final round score of 69.
She triumphed over Korean Dayeon Lee by seven strokes at the Pondok Indah course in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Saturday.
Daniella, Bianca tie for 23rd
Despite high expectations for a strong finish from Team Philippines, Daniella Uy posted a two-over 74, and Bianca Pagdanganan struggled with a 76, resulting in joint 23rd place with a total score of 219.
Thitikul's exceptional second-round score of 65 played a crucial role in securing her victory, finishing 17 strokes ahead of her closest competitor.
This performance effectively settled the outcome of the 54-hole championship, which was previously won by Princess Superal in the previous year.
In the individual competition, Superal finished with her worst score of 79, landing her in a joint 45th position out of 57 participants with a total score of 230.
Dottie shares 28th
Another Filipino contender, Dottie Ardina, matched par with a score of 72, finishing tied for 28th place with a total score of 221.
Thitikul maintained her lead throughout the tournament, producing a solid all-around game with five birdies and a bogey after 11 holes.
Despite settling for pars and a bogey in the last seven holes, she finished with a 69 and a total score of 14-under 202, earning her the championship and a prize of $100,000.
Lee secured second place with a score of 209 after a final round of 71, while Minbyeol Kim took third place with a total score of 211 after a 70. Two other Korean players, amateur Minsol Kim and Hyosong Lee, tied for fourth place at 212 after rounds of 70 and 71, respectively.
Thitikul, along with teammate Jaravee Boonchant, claimed the team crown with a combined score of 15-under 417, finishing seven strokes ahead of the Korean pairs of Youmin Hwang and Minbyeol Kim, as well as Minsol Kim and Hyosong Lee, both tied at 424.
In individual play, Uy struggled to find momentum, posting a three-over 219 with a combination of birdies and bogeys. Pagdanganan, who had an inspiring 70 in the second round, faced challenges in the front nine with two dropped strokes and finished with a 39-37.
Ardina posted a 37-35, featuring one birdie against two bogeys at the back and a birdie on No. 6. Superal, aiming for another shot at the crown, experienced a tough round with three consecutive bogeys and four additional shots dropped at the back, resulting in a birdie-less 39-40.
In team play, Uy and Ardina finished 13th with a combined score of eight-over 440, while Pagdanganan and Superal tied for 19th with Thailand 4 and Indonesia 3, all posting scores of 449.
