Princess Superal of the ICTSI team hit four birdies against one bogey for 57 Molave points and took a three-point lead over Sunshine Baraquiel at the start of the 49th Southern Ladies golf tournament at the Cebu Country Club today (Wednesday).
Manila Southwoods’ Baraquiel matched par and scored 54 points, while Alta Vista’s Ericka Lim humbled some of the members of the national pool with 53 points for solo third.
Jayvie Agojo, one of the fancied bets in the centerpiece championship division, struggled with a two-over 74 worth 52 points in a tie with ICTSI teammate and reigning Philippine amateur champion Lovelynn Guioguio.
Sarah Ababa, also of ICTSI, scored 50 points while Del Monte’s Pamela Mariano, Aguinaldo’s Matet Salivio and Apple Fudolin, also of Del Monte, had 49, 48 and 47, points, respectively.
In Class A, Riviera’s Seo Yon Kwon scored 48 points to take a two-point lead over Hanna Wong (46) of the host club with Del Monte’s Sofia Chabon scoring a 42 for third place.
Junia Gabasa of Alta Vista took charge in Class B with 44 points, two ahead of Violeta Pegels (42) of Forest Hills while CCC’s Eva Hino stood three points adrift with 39.
Jung Ja Bae of CCC showed the way in Class C with 45 points for an eight-point lead over Anli Wu (37) of Forest Hills with Genelyn Inot of Mactan and Leni Cabili of Aguinaldo in joint third with 33 points.
