Southwoods Masters parades Del Rosario, Chabon in bid for sixth straight PAL Interclub Ladies title

Pauline del Rosario is expected to lead the way for a Southwoods side that is now without Abby Arevalo.

MANILA Southwoods-Masters goes for a sixth straight title in the Championship Division as the 11th Philippine Airlines Ladies Interclub tournament is held next month at Camp John Hay in Baguio.

Young international campaigners Pauline del Rosario and Sofia Chabon head the team that is now without last year’s individual champion Abby Arevalo, who is in the United States on a golf scholarship at San Jose State University.

Southwoods-Masters, which scored a one-point victory over Cebu Country Club last year, will also have Mikhaela Fortuna in the four-to-play, three-to-count event set Oct. 4 to 7.

Cebu CC will also be without its top gun last year, Lois Kaye Go, who is also studying in the US, and the club pins its hopes on sisters Irina and Junia Gabasa and Riko and Ryoko Nagai.

Del Rosario last week was part of a four-way playoff for the ICTSI Ladies Sherwood Hills Challenge won by Princess Superal, her former teammate in the Philippine Team.

A total of 32 teams, including three international squads, will be seeing action in four divisions including the Founders, Sportswriters and Friendship brackets.

Luzon will have 17 teams, while the Lady Eagles of Australia fielding in two squads. Port Moresby is the third international team.
