Sergio leads as Pinoys stay in hunt in rain-hit Malaysian tournament

SERGIO Garcia shot five-under through 12 holes to move to nine-under overall when play was suspended due to darkness in the second round of the Iskandar Johor Open on Friday in Malaysia.

The European Ryder Cup mainstay from Spain had four birdies on the back nine and birdied No. 2 at Horizon Hills Golf Club. American David Lipsky completed his first round earlier on Friday, scoring a nine-under 63, but has not started his second round.

Antonio Lascuna, who had a first-round 68, was two under through nine holes in the second round and was at six under overall.

Angelo Que, who shot 67 on Thursday, has not played his second round.

Elmer Salvador was one under through 10 and was three-under for the tournament.

Others yet to start their second rounds include Japan Senior Open Frankie Miñoza, who had an opening 72, Miguel Tabuena (75) and Mars Pucay (76).

Ernie Els was one-under through 12 holes of the second round and was three-under for the tournament when play was halted.
