CHARL SHWARTZEL slowed down just a little a bit, but the chasing pack wasn’t able to close the gap and the South African’s lead increased from four to five after three rounds in the Thailand Golf Championship on Saturday.

After two consecutive 65s at the Amata Spring Country Club in Chonburi, the 2011 Masters champion came up with a 68 for a 198 total and a five-stroke lead over Daniel Chopra, who had a 69.

Angelo Que scored a third straight 72 for a 54-hole aggregate of 216, way behind the leader but at joint 47th, the three-time Asian Tour winner is the best-placed Filipino in the field.

Juvic Pagunsan, last year’s top money earner on the Asian Tour, had a 76 and nosedived from 35th to joint 60th at 219.

Teen star Miguel Tabuena fired a 78 and dropped from joint 25th to a share of 62nd at 220.

Elmer Salvador also had a 78 and was in 68th place at 222.
