SCOTTIE Scheffler ended the PGA Tour season without winning a major. But there was no question he remained the undisputed world No. 1 after rallying from three strokes down to with the TOUR Championship on Sunday (Monday in Manila).
Scheffler shot a 4-under-par 66 for his second FedEx Cup title and his third win of the year. The victory, worth $10 million, the largest golf prize ever, also put him on top of the PGA’s career earnings, surpassing Tiger Woods.
Scheffler”s winnings now total $130,390,661. Woods had ruled this category for nearly 26 years. But in fairness, prizes during Woods’ peak were far below current rates.

Scheffler, who also won the first leg of the playoffs at St. Jude, tied Viktor Hovland for the lead on the fourth hole, then on the 13th, pulled ahead and beat Hovland by three shots.
He was 16 under 264 for the tournament on rounds of 65-67-66-66.
“This was a week I brought a lot of good energy to the course and tried to do my best,” Scheffler. “Coming from behind and being able to win tournaments is a really cool feeling.”
Ryan Gerard finished alone in third after a 2-over-par 72 while sharing fourth were seven players at 11 under, including Rory McIlroy who shot a 69, Min Woo Lee (68), Chris Gotterup (71) and Ludwig Aberg (71).
The win was Scheffler’s 22nd overall. Besides his three wins, he also had five second places, two thirds, 13 top fives and 13 top 10s. He missed the cut once, however, showing he was also mortal.
His victory might have also tightened his grip on the tour’s Player of the Year, an award he has won the last four years.
LPGA TOUR: China’s Yin wins FM Championship
China’s Ruoning Yin won her first tournament in nearly two years after topping the FM Championship at the TPC Boston Sunday (Monday in Manila).
Yin fired a 2-under-par 70 and won by two strokes over South Korea’’s Hyo Joo Kim as the field played through windy conditions.
Yin, whose last victory was the Maybank Championship in 2024, proved to be the most resilient. She birdied the 12th to earn a share of the lead then parred the next five holes before rolling in a birdie on the 18th to end her title drought which lasted 672 days.
It was her sixth career LPGA win that netted her $660,000.
“It’s just been so long since my last win,” Yin said. “I know I work hard and also my team, my mom is here. Just everything comes together.”
Allisen Corpuz fired a 68 and placed third while Rose Zhang shot a 68 and was a stroke back with Sei Young Kim.
Guce ties for 39th, Malaysian wins Epson Tour title
Clariss Guce shot a final round 2-under-par 70 and tied for 39th place at the Dream First Bank Charity Classic on Sunday (Monday in Manila).
Guce, 36, who has two wins on the Epson Tour, had four birdies and two bogeys in her round, 3 under for the tournament that earned her $1,145.
Guce was the only survivor of a five-player Philippine contingent in the tournament that saw Bianca Pagdanganan miss her first cut in 12 events on the Epson Tour, the LPGA’s developmental league.
Also missing the cut were Dottie Ardina, Pauline del Rosario, and Tomita Arejola.
Malaysia’s Mirabel Ting fired a 6-under-par 66 to win the 54-hole championship by three strokes over Dorsey Addicks.
It was the second Epson Tour title for the 20-year-old who had a bogey-free round and claimed top spot in the Race for the Card with three events left.
“I feel great. I mean, to get the second win is actually, I would say, pretty hard still,” said Ting. “I was not as nervous as I thought I would be coming into the last few holes, but overall I played good golf this week and there's a lot of improvement to be done still.”
