Japanese shotmaker, three others set pace as two Filipinos get off to slow start in Asian Tour Q-School

JAPAN’s Ryosuke Kinoshita and three others fired 65s to pace the first round of the Asian Tour Qualifying School Final Stage, while two Filipinos vying for their tour cards got off to a slow start on Wednesday in Thailand.

Kinoshita went bogey free, while Paul Spargo and Lee Jun-seok of Australia and Thailand’s Danthai Boonma also scored 65s.

The par-71 Springfield Royal Golf Club hosted 116 players for teh first round, while 115 players tackled the par-72 Imperial Lakeview Golf Club.

Forty spots to the 2015 Asian Tour season are at stake and Clyde Mondilla sat below the line, his opening 72 good only for joint 43rd.

Marvin Dumandan came up with a 75 and was tied for 77th.
