CYNA Rodriguez tries to go two-for two as a pro as she heads the field in the ICTSI Wack Wack Ladies Philippine Golf Tour eyeing off on Thursday.
Rodriguez entered the pro ranks with a bang, coming up with an eight-stroke victory over fellow former Philippine Ladies Open champion Jayvie Agojo two weeks in the 54-hole tournament at Eagle Ridge.
Heidi Chua, another Philippine Ladies Open winner, is also vying for honors at Wack Wack and will look to look to spoil Rodriguez’s bid for back-to-back titles.
Top amateur Princess Superal is also seeing action in the tournament sponsored by International Container Terminal Services, Inc., hoping to humble the pros after finishing second at TCC and third in Canlubang both won by Dottie Ardina. The other amateurs playing in the tournament are Felicia Medalla and Harmie Constantino.
Sarah Jane Ababa, Reb Bareng, Lina de Guzman, Apple Fudolin, Lovelynn Guioguio, Lucy Landicho, Barsy Leonen, Eva Minoza Marjorie Pulumbarit, Jan Punzalan and Sylvia Torres have also signed up for the P500,000 event offering a top prize of P100,000 and backed by Nike Golf, Pacsports, Gatorade, Sharp and Custom Clubmakers.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez wound up eighth in the 36-hole Sime Darby Malaysia Qualifier in Kuala Lumpur with rounds of 74-73 for a 147, four shots behind the 143s by Taiwanese Yu Hsin Chang and Pei Yun Chien, who took the two slots in the rich LPGA event next month.
Chihiro Ikeda ended up ninth with a 148 after a 75, Team ICTSI spearhead Princess Superal carded a 73 for a 150 for 14th while Agojo had a 151 after a 75 for 15th.
