THE chase for berths in this year’s ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour begins on March 5 with the staging of the Qualifying School at Splendido Taal Golf Club in Tagaytay where 40 slots will be at stake.
The field will be trimmed to 60 after 36 holes, and the top 30 locals and 10 foreign bets after two more rounds will earn cards for the 2013 season.
A practice round is set on March 4.
The top 40 in last year’s ICTSI-PGT money list are already exempted.
The Q-School is also open to amateurs with handicaps of two (maximum 2.4 index) under the USGA handicapping system.
A richer, bigger circuit has been lined up this year with a record 17 legs, starting with the ICTSI Sherwood Hills Classic set March 20-23 where Elmer Salvador is the defending back-to-back champion.
Five other four-day championships are on tap, including the ICTSI Wack Wack Championship, which will host the circuit’s final leg for the third straight season on November 20-23.
The second leg will be held on April 10-14 dubbed the Solaire Open and held in conjunction with the grand opening of the Solaire Manila Resort at Entertainment City.
A three-leg Mindanao swing features the ICTSI Rancho Palos Verdes Classic set June 26-28, the ICTSI Del Monte Championship slated July 3-5 and the ICTSI Pueblo de Oro Championship set July 10-12.
The Q-School registration deadline is set on Friday (March 1). Entry fee is P3,500 for local golfers and P7,000 for foreign players. For details, contact PGT at 0915-7824751 or download the form at pgt.ph.
